There’s No Punch Line When Joking About Suicide by Brandy Lidbeck

I made the following video for the Huffington Post to share with the general public in regards to joking about suicide. It seems these jokes impact all of us as survivors so I thought I would try to educate folks in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness month.

I appreciate this video, and what the speaker said. I was deeply impacted by the suicide of my brother, and close friend. I get very upset whenever someone makes jest of killing themselves. I often take them a side and educate the importance of not ever..ever doing that.because it is still frightening, and emotionally devastating to all of us that have experienced a loved one actually killing themselves.
Thank you, and God bless you.

Thank you. My husband died by suicide 8 months ago. I know people don’t realize the impact these things can have. I hope they never will know personally. I don’t wish the journey on anyone. But it would be nice if they would think.
